About the role
Role Purpose
Clinically trained administrator supporting a UK healthcare or dental client — referrals, appointments, records, coding support and patient correspondence.
Key Responsibilities
Manages referrals, appointment booking, cancellations and recall lists.
Maintains patient records to the client's standard, including document filing and summarising.
Supports clinical coding and prepares information for billing or insurance claims.
Prepares prior authorisation and insurance pre-approval submissions.
Handles patient calls and correspondence with the discretion the subject matter requires.
Applies the client's confidentiality and data protection rules on every record touched, without exception.
Essential Requirements
A recognised clinical or health qualification — registered nurse, pharmacy technician, clinical officer, paramedic, medical laboratory scientist, environmental health officer, or a degree in health sciences.
Sound command of medical terminology, anatomy and common treatment pathways.
Two years in a hospital, clinic, laboratory, pharmacy or medical administration setting.
Confident on a clinical or practice management system.
Understands why confidentiality matters clinically, not only contractually.
Clear spoken and written English; calm with distressed callers.
Desirable
Knowledge of UK pathways — NHS e-Referral Service, SNOMED CT, Read codes.
Medical coding to ICD-10, ICD-11, CPT or OPCS standard.
Dental practice software — Dentally, SOE Exact, Software of Excellence.
HIPAA, UK GDPR or information governance training already completed.
