Associate Software Engineer (Agentic Development)

Remote Remote Contract IT/Technical Support

About the role

The Opportunity

This is not a typical graduate role where you sit in the corner and watch. Our Future Technologist Programme is designed for ambitious computer science graduates who want to grow into well-rounded technology professionals. You will work across the full product lifecycle—from understanding a small business owner’s problem, to architecting a solution, to shipping it and measuring its impact.

Over time, you will build deep expertise across AI/ML, full-stack development, and cloud technologies while developing the product thinking and business awareness that distinguishes a true technologist from a coder.

What You’ll Do

  • Solve Real Problems
Work directly on products that address genuine small business challenges. You’ll learn to start with the problem, not the technology—then pick the right tool for the job, whether that’s a simple automation, a full-stack web application, or an AI/ML-powered feature.

  • Build Across the Stack
Develop, test, and deploy features across frontend, backend, APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure. You won’t be siloed—you’ll gain breadth and depth.

  • Learn and Apply AI/ML
Get hands-on with practical AI and machine learning—from integrating large language models and building intelligent workflows to training and fine-tuning models where it makes sense. You’ll learn to apply AI where it genuinely adds value, not just where it sounds impressive.

  • Ship and Iterate
Take ownership of features from idea to production. Write clean, maintainable code. Participate in code reviews, contribute to architectural decisions, and learn what it means to build software that businesses depend on.

  • Communicate and Collaborate
Work with teammates, stakeholders, and sometimes directly with customers. Translate technical concepts into plain language. Write clear documentation. Ask good questions.

Who You Are

  • A recent graduate (or final-year student) in Computer Science or a closely related field with a solid grasp of fundamentals—data structures, algorithms, operating systems, networking, and databases.

  • Self-driven. You don’t wait to be told what to learn or what to do next. You take initiative, manage your own time effectively, and hold yourself accountable—especially important in a remote environment.

  • Deeply curious. You have a genuine passion for learning and technology. You read, experiment, build side projects, contribute to open source, or do whatever it takes to keep growing. Learning is not something you do for exams—it’s how you operate.

  • A strong communicator. You can express your ideas clearly in writing and conversation. You listen well. You’re comfortable asking for help and equally comfortable sharing what you know.

  • Entrepreneurial. You think like an owner. You care about the “why” behind what you’re building, not just the “how.” You’re resourceful, scrappy, and energised by the challenge of doing more with less.

  • A person of integrity. You’re honest, dependable, and transparent—even when it’s uncomfortable. You do the right thing when no one is watching.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with any modern web framework (React, Next.js, Django, FastAPI, Node.js, etc.)

  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

  • Experience with Python and/or TypeScript

  • Personal projects, open-source contributions, or hackathon participation that demonstrate initiative

  • Interest in or coursework related to AI/ML, NLP, or data engineering
